DOULCE MEMOIRE
(the sweet memory) is a programme with which we want to dive deep into the 16th century together with you, the audience. A journey to one of the turning points of instrumental music, this concert presents an entertaining, varied programme of dances by Pierre Attaignant, chansons and madrigals by Jaque Arcadelt, and instrumental ricercars of their contemporaries. These musical forms and composers shake hands and reach perfection enriched by Diego Ortiz's art of diminution in an evening of music which can only be described as wonderful.
Emulating their great model, vocal music, the instruments themselves begin to speak and rise above themselves. At the end of our programme, the audience will witness a turnaround: vocal and instrumental music now meet at eye level and the boundaries of who is emulating and imitating whom become blurred.
"Douce Memoire" is a programme that invites you to indulge in the sweet memory of the power of awakening, the magic inherent in every beginning.
